Artist Statement
Lil' Bud Clothing Company, located in Toronto, ON, began with a dress made for a friend who had recently had a baby in 2002.

Someone saw it and thought we should make more to sell. That was the beginning. Since then, we have been making unique clothes for girls ages 0-7 that are designed and made by hand.

Lil' Bud Clothing Company's philosophy is simple. To create high quality children's clothing that is unique, fun, and well made. From concept to construction, we make each piece with care. Every aspect of the business, from the name to the clothes, has meaning, and a great deal of thought is put into every garment.

The clothes begin as a drawing. The pattern is made in all the sizes and high quality fabric is selected. All the fabric is prewashed, and 100% cotton is used whenever possible. Then we cut out the pieces and begin sewing. Each outfit has special features such as couched yarn appliqué, buttons, piping, binding, or wired appliqués. The garments are completely finished on the inside with flat fell and over locked seams. All this special attention, not found in a mass produced garment, creates a product that is as finished on the inside as the outside.

Special orders are a big part of the business. And any request is considered from sizing to accessories. The accessories include matching hair bows, purses, and hats. We try to make an outfit that is really unique and the child will enjoy wearing. Our hope is that every garment will become that child's favorite!
